I tried several other automated litter box units including the one that washes the plastic liter granuals. The cats did not like the plastic litter granuals.

This one worked great when whe had one small cat when he was small. As he grew up, he no longer used the unit because I think it is too small for a 18lb cat. We have 3 other cats. The two girls 4 years old, would not use it. I think because it is enclosed. Our new 6 month old boy will use it and it works fine.

You really need to empty every 2 or 3 days even with light use or the unit will tend to have an oder if only used once or twice in those days. I was thinking of putting something like baking soda on the bottom of the pan liner, not sure if any one else has has this issue.
