I bought myself the litter robot for my birthday (my significant other was in disbelief I really wanted it for a birthday gift! haha) and crossed my fingers. He read the instructions before I did about how to get them acclimated to the new box by putting some old litter from the other box in, not plugging it in, etc.

Well, this is the second week with no more litter box – just the litter robot and our three cats LOVE IT. I had one cat that was a little skittish, and I caught her a few times looking for a new place (after we took away the other litter box) to go, so I brought her in the room with the litter box and just patiently pet her, kept her soothed, and placed her in front of the box (with it unplugged) until she was finally curious enough to sniff around, then step up on the step, then peep in, then pop in to use it (I knew she had to go, so it was the perfect time). It took all of 20 minutes. The next time I caught her (I noticed her interested in the dog bed and knew she was looking for a spot) and brought her back to the litter robot – it took 2 tries to place her in front of it before she jumped in and used it. After that, no more looking around – it looks like she was just skittish about the noise factor, but now they are all used to it. The other 2 cats hopped right in with no problems.

What a relief and joy to no longer have to constantly scoop, sweep and clean around a litter box several times a day – and no longer have to worry about my dogs snacking in it and dragging it all over the house! More room, no more having to clean scoopers, litter smells, scattered litter, etc….its worth its weight in GOLD.
