I have used Littermaid and Cat Genie in the past, as well as 5 conventional hooded litterboxes for my 5 furfriends and this Litter Robot is hands down the best ever! I usually have to empty the bin every day or every other day just because of the number of cats I have but that is no big deal.

As far as introductions to it, I had to take it in baby steps for some of my cats. Two of them adapted within a day or so, but one of them it took a good month to have him regularly use it. The litter robot has a small rocking sensation when they first step in (the 7 minute timer is activated when the cat steps on the step to enter globe) and some of the cats were a little leary of it at first. There is a sensitivity knob on the underside of the base that you can set to less sensitive when the cats are getting used to it, as well as leaving the robot off and just running it once a day til the cats get used to the sound of it. But now after a month they are all exclusively using it and its amazing.

I had a small light blinking problem with my base and had to return/exchange for another base and customer service at this company is PHENOMENAL! They are very curtious very prompt and efficient. I am very delighted with this product as are my cats, particularly one of my males who is very very picky about smell and cleanliness of the boxes. He is who I had in mind when purchasing this.

You will never consider another type of box after trying this one, it is the best. As far as big cats concerned of the size of globe and having enough room, I have 3 small females, and 2 large male cats (13 and 17 lbs) and they fit just fine in there.
