Kittens love their Litter Robot
My Kittens love their Litter Robot!
A good year before I had considered getting a cat, I knew I wanted the Litter Robot after seeing a video on YouTube. When I decided to adopt Ace & Gary, 8-week old brothers, from the local shelter, I bought the robot weeks before they were even ready to come home.
Training them was easy, I basically pointed one of them towards it; the other followed and within seconds, they were both in there checking it out. Except for a couple misses on the first week, they’ve really taken to it.
The Robot entry port is a tad too tall for small kittens, so I took a couple flat cinderblocks and positioned them in front of the opening.
They were entering and leaving without issue. I kept the machine off and only turned it on to manually cycle it.
They’re now about 4.5 pounds and using the robot like champs. I just recently put the robot back in automatic mode and it’s been great.
After about a solid week of automated use, the kittens have finally gotten over the novelty of the robot cycling. That first week was interesting. Gary was highly inquisitive and had to enter/leave the globe about 5 times on every cycle. The robot sensed the cat’s presence and stopped until it had an “all clear” every time. It certainly slows down the process, but it was entertaining for all of us and never hindered the complete process.
The Litter Robot is the single best pet investment I’ve made. It continues to pay for itself every day. It keeps the odors to a minimum and I never have to touch a scooper again!
