This thing is a life saver!
I moved in with these two kitties at the beginning of January. They are a friend’s cats, but they live with me and I’m the one who takes care of them. I’ve had cats my whole life, and the one thing I don’t deal with well is the litter box. It is an even bigger deal when you live in a small apartment. I waited for my tax return, and this was the first purchase I made. It came highly recommended from a friend who has three cats, and I was impressed with it then.
For as much as I hate litter duties, it was still an important thing to do, especially with these two ultra-picky felines. The roommate, who agreed to take the cats off my friend’s hands first, does NOT do litter duty, and when I had to be away for several days, the litter did not get cleaned, and the boys were rather unhappy. Ever seen a cat do the pee-pee dance? It isn’t pretty. I was worried because I knew then that I would be away over Easter for 10 days, with a single stop home. Litter Robot to the rescue!
Ordering was easy, and it was the first thing I did with my tax return. It arrived very quickly, which I am thankful for, and setup was an absolute breeze. I was actually a little disappointed in how easy it was, since I love to put things together! I ran the initial cycle, filled it with litter, and retrieved the cats. Zeus sniffed at it, walked right in, and used it. No hesitation whatsoever. Batman, on the other hand, didn’t know what to make of it. When the cycle ran, they both ran to see what was going on, and Zeus stood on the step and stuck his head right in while it rotated safely and freely around him! He was so fascinated. When it stopped, he got in, dug at the litter, and got back out….and he was likely thinking “it’s gone!”. Batman, however, was very unsure of this new thing that rotated and made noise. I talked to him gently whenever he was near it to encourage him to not be afraid. I left the old litterbox set up for him in case he needed to go and didn’t want to use this just yet. He sat and watched this thing run (which it did a LOT while Zeus played with it) for the rest of the night and I suspected he had actually used it overnight. When I saw him coming out of it the next evening, I dumped the litterbox and all was right with the world.
That time I was away over Easter? Yeah, that was simple. I had a stop home in the middle, changed the bag, refilled litter, and it was done! What an amazing thing this Litter Robot is! The boys have a constantly clean box, and the smell is GREATLY diminished!
Now, if I can just get Zeus to quit throwing litter out of the dome onto the floor…..
Thanks!
Janet, Zeus, and Batman
