It can make a mess if the bottom part is full and so it sticks to the sides, but if you clean it often you wont have a problem. All three cats took to it very well. Sometimes when they come out they will track some litter, but not bad. I would recommend this to anyone who does not want to manually scoop the litter. It has made my life so much easier. What a savings in time, energy, and liter. Have had 2 litermaids in the past both didn’t last very long and were extremely messy.
