I’ve owned a Litter Robot now for about 4 years. Best investment I ever made. Is it more expensive than competitors? Yes, but it’s worth every penny. It does an incredible job of controlling odor. The best part is that it’s super easy to change out the cat waste. I only have to do it about every 3 weeks and it takes less than a minute. No mess, no smell. The cat took right to it. No training needed. I take the globe part of the unit outside about twice a year and hose it down to clean it. The only negative is the cat litter that hits the ground after the cat jumps out, but all litter boxes have that problem. Do yourself a favor, quit messing around with other “automated” units. The Litter Robot is the real deal.

Our cat is 14 years old and 17 pounds. I was skeptical that she would be willing and able to even use the litter robot. I decided to give it a try. I followed the advice and set it up in the room where her regular box was leaving the original box in place. Then moved the Robot into the spot where her original litter box was and finally removed the original box. I did place a stool in front of the litter robot to assist my FAT and rather old cat. She began using the robot with very little issue. I did reward her with a treat when I caught her using the robot in the first month or so. We have had the Robot since February and it was a very good purchase. I have recommended it to everyone I know who shares their life with a cat. Thank you Litter Robot!!!

I too was a bit hesitant about buying a LR, but it was the best purchase ever! The 90 day money back guarantee was what convinced me to buy it and try it. I had tried other automatic litter boxes with little success, but this one not only works very well, you can tell that it was well thought out and engineered. It’s quiet! Later on, we also purchased a cabinet for it which makes for a nice table and hides the LR. I also recommend buying the LR2 Fence, which greatly reduced the amount of cat litter the cats carried out on their paws. Wait with installing it until the cats are used to using the LR. One of our cats is very timid, but he got it. Great product Litter Robot! 6 out of 5 stars!

I just got my Litter Robot yesterday and I am already walking on cloud 9! I have 7 – that’s SEVEN – cats. One is named “King Leo the Lump” for a reason. He was the one I was most worried about using the Litter Robot. He’s huge and he’s lazy beyond words (he was already that way when I got him). Leo was one of the first to hop in and use it. Within an hour, 4 of the 7 had used it. This morning, I have visually witnessed 6 of the 7 using it and I suspect the 7th has used it when I wasn’t watching.

It’s in my bedroom and it is very quiet when in action. I still have one of the old boxes next to the Robot. The amount of litter outside of each box and on the floor is telling. Almost no litter on the floor in front of the Litter Robot.

I’m also astounded with the amount of clean litter that remains in the Litter Robot after 24 hours. I never knew how much litter the old boxes were actually wasting. The proof that the Litter Robot is being used by the 7 cats almost exclusively is in the drawer! The Litter Robot is going to save me a small fortune in cat litter!

All the cats like to assemble to watch it operate after someone uses it. It’s hysterical to see them all sitting in front of it, waiting for the entertainment to start!

Another bonus – there is nothing in the litter box for the dog to go digging up! Yes, on top of the cats, there are two dogs here and litter box raids were a problem.

We are an “elder” family – my parents, who are great grandparents, and I, a disabled grandmother, have mobility issues but our kitties and the dogs are family – our babies. Keeping up with the litter boxes had become so difficult physically. This is box has already improved our quality of life – for us and for the cats. I will be getting another one for the second level of our home in the near future!

The design on this thing is brilliant, but the way. Since it operates on a weight sensor, instead of a visual/motion sensor, it eliminates many of the design issues of other automatic litter boxes right off the bat. The rest of those design issues are answered by tumbling out clumps instead of raking and lifting clumps into a container. It’s just brilliant all the way around.

Automated litter box frees owners’ time, removes odor and scraps scooping duty as seen on CNBC http://classic.cnbc.com/id/42088169

PONTIAC, Mich., Mar 15, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Spring cleaning ushers in the new season with a fresh, clean home. For households with cats, the litter box always needs special attention and springtime is a perfect opportunity to finally get rid of one of the dirtiest and unwanted jobs — cleaning the litter box. Automated Pet Care Products, Inc. has eliminated that dreaded chore with the Litter-Robot(TM), the only automated, self-cleaning litter box made in the USA.

With the Litter-Robot(TM), cleaning the litter box is as simple as changing a kitchen garbage bag every few days. Seven minutes after a cat uses it, the Litter-Robot automatically rotates and its patented litter sifting process gently separates the waste clumps from the litter and deposits it into a large waste drawer lined with a plastic bag, leaving behind a clean bed of litter for the cat.

Litter-Robot(TM) ensures an odor-free environment and forever eliminates scooping a dirty litter box by hand. The sifting system is so efficient that owners will save up to 50 percent on litter as compared to manual scooping.

“The Litter-Robot(TM) is unique in that it saves owners both time and money, something we’re all trying to do,” said Brad Baxter, president of Automated Pet Care Products. “Best of all, by completely eliminating this household chore, it gives owners the time and freedom to do other things or even take a weekend trip without worrying about the litter box.” Additionally, the Litter Robot(TM) system does not require any special waste trays, expensive litter crystals, or chemical cartridges to operate; simply use a favorite clumping litter and line the waste drawer with an inexpensive kitchen garbage bag.

Litter-Robot(TM) features include: — Patented litter sifting system; No rake that can jam or clog; No special receptacles or bags; — Works with any clumping litter; Dramatically reduces odor; Uses less litter; — Made in USA; 90-day money-back guarantee; 18-month full warranty Litter-Robot(TM) is made in the USA and costs $329 – $349 and includes shipping.

It is available online at www.litter-robot.com.

About Litter-Robot(TM) Automated Pet Care Products, Inc., based in Pontiac, Mich., is the maker of the Litter-Robot(TM), the only automated, self-cleaning litter box product made in the USA. The Litter-Robot makes life easier for cat owners by eliminating the daily hassle of litter box scooping. An innovative and talented team has created a safe and reliable automatic self-cleaning litter box that is efficient, works flawlessly, and requires only minimal attention. The Litter-Robot(TM) made its market debut in April of 2000. Made from tough recyclable plastics and industrial grade components, the Litter-Robot(TM) was designed to last. It is a quality appliance, not a dispensable product that needs to be replaced every year. The company stands behind this self-cleaning litter box with an 18-month full warranty and 90-day money-back guarantee. Litter-Robot(TM) is available for purchase online at www.litter-robot.com.

Dear Litter Robot folks and potential customers,

OK I don’t do reviews almost ever. However, this is a very exceptional product and deserves comment. Instead of a formal Review or recommendation I decided to post/show you what I told all my friends on Facebook about my experience this week with this product. Here is my review, exactly what I told all my friends on my Facebook wall:

Richard (me):
Well Normy my cat switched litter boxes easily and quickly. The tips helped: let the old one fill up uncleaned; toss a little of it’s soiled litter into the new box for familiar smell; a pinch if cat nip on the new ones opening. I can write tons about how wonderful this morning was. Press a button and presto cleaned litter and clean box; no scooping no mess no manual cleaning. Cat loves watching it.
#
Margaret: I wonder, though, if in a multiple cat household, there might be a problem if a second cat stepped in during the cleaning business. What do you think?
4 hours ago · LikeUnlike
#
Richard (me): No problem with multiple cats. Nothing to harm cat during cleaning cycle; unit senses any cat or other animal poking around it or in it and auto shuts off till animal is gone and resets; then if no more intrusions will initiate cleaning cycle again. If you had like more than 3 or 4 cats I would consider getting 2 units for greater ease for them. I’ll be switching it on to automatic mode today. Also it was very quiet not noisy. Old You tube video of an older model was noisy; this one is quiet.
4 hours ago · LikeUnlike
#
Richard (me): Plus you can just keep the unit switched off all day and night then just turn it on for a cleaning cycle in the morning to dump the poop too. That’s what I did this morning. That also might be a way to stay frugal on electricity too. The auto is great though for being out of town for a few days etc.
#
Richard (me): It seems this really is one of those rare products that really is as great as it’s advertised to be and is as the reviewers praise. Still it has one major con and that is in those reviews too. Most of them say the investment/price is really steep and it us; but still add that they were glad they went ahead and got it even though it is expensive; best decision of their lives. So far I’m in agreement.
4 hours ago · LikeUnlike
#
Margaret: I bet there is cost savings in litter that over time, would recoup the investment — not to mention other great things about it. I appreciate the recommendation!
3 hours ago · LikeUnlike
#
Margaret: OK, I read up on it and see that with our cats, I would need the bigger “Bubble” one (for our largest cat), but also she would need some steps to get in and out of it.
3 hours ago · LikeUnlike
#
Richard (me): Yup I got the big bubble newer model, but refurbished (looked brand new to me); also my cat is towards the 15 lb. Upper limit recommendation too. Larger cats than 15 lbs. Have used it with bubble though. I have it as shown and he steps right up into it; but someday I’m thinking I’ll add the step up scratch ramp accessory too. I was a bit worried whether he’d step on up into it but he does without problem. He’s using it. Lol I love this!
3 hours ago · LikeUnlike
#
Richard (me): Ah yup; I’ll be using plastic grocery bags for liners and works with 8 oz to 13 oz kitchen bags too. Plus litter save about 40%. So just with liners (now really garbage bags; no use of liners as before) and efficient litter use; eventually it does recoup initial cost. Still it was a forbidding price; very glad i did it and certain I’ll remain overjoyed I took the leap though.
#
Richard (me): Oh super easy to set up or maintain; not complicated at all. And I’m not a salesman either. Lol
#
Richard (me): I’m using tidy cat strong clump or arm & Hammer strong clump right Now too. They emailed me back same day on my question of what easy to find name brands litter would work well available at local grocery. Worlds best car litter clump works too but I don’t commute very far and Petco is too far away for me.
Richard (me):
One other note on this Marg. Forget about the $100 rectangular litter boxes with an auto cleaning rake. I read up on many reviews and consumer reviews before deciding and those all end up 9 times out of 10 a real disappointment. The cleaning rakes get clogged up and cleaning them is frequent and messy etc.. However, the Cat Genie has some very good points to it too. Still has one bug that needs fixing and a plumber to install etc. Plus it’s stuck where you hook it up; not something you can change location with easily at all. Plus the maintenance costs for Cat Genie are all required to buy from them like replacement sanitizes etc and at their prices with out flexibility to use less expensive adequate 3rd party products. I figure when it fixes it’s one big bug concerning trapped poop and that terrible oder problem in it’s next generation model and if they allow 3rd party products to be used to fill up the sanitizer module and if you own a house and plan to stay there and never want to shift its location within the house much then it too might be wonderful. Around the same price as litter Robot plus plumber cost.
Margaret: I think what you got sounds best.

My cats had no issues adapting. No nasty odours. I adore the fact that we can use any large bags for the tray and any brand of clumping litter. I have also purchased the lip extension and the gate and since then, no mess on the steps. Cheers for a terrific product.

I can’t praise Litter Robot enough! You have no idea how it has liberated me from the dreaded chore of cleaning wet, smelly litter for my 2 cats. I’ve had cats all my life and cleaning their litter box has always been a drag. No more. Litter Robot is so simple to use and operate and keeps the cat litter dry, clean and no smell!! All my cat owner friends that come over, are blown away when I show them. Litter Robot, we love you! Getting it in 2008 was actually one of the best things that happened to me that year!!! I was even going to include it in my annual Xmas newsletter as one of the highlights for 2008, but my husband thought that was a bit weird, so I didn’t. But I had to post something here at least!

This is truly the best litterbox! I own a pet boutique and am always rescuing animals. I have 3 cats which share their litter robot. All I have to do is remove their waste once a week! No more scraping the box, no more smell, just easy once a week removal. ..Amazing…We also saved $ on cat litter. Now that we have the litter robot, we purchase the large sized scoopable litter once a month. Thanks to the litter robot, we not only save money on litter, but we now have no smelly mess! I’ve tried all the litterboxes out there and the litter robot is truly the best.
