OK I don’t do reviews almost ever. However, this is a very exceptional product and deserves comment. Instead of a formal Review or recommendation I decided to post/show you what I told all my friends on Facebook about my experience this week with this product. Here is my review, exactly what I told all my friends on my Facebook wall:

Richard (me):
Well Normy my cat switched litter boxes easily and quickly. The tips helped: let the old one fill up uncleaned; toss a little of it’s soiled litter into the new box for familiar smell; a pinch if cat nip on the new ones opening. I can write tons about how wonderful this morning was. Press a button and presto cleaned litter and clean box; no scooping no mess no manual cleaning. Cat loves watching it.
#
Margaret: I wonder, though, if in a multiple cat household, there might be a problem if a second cat stepped in during the cleaning business. What do you think?
Richard (me): No problem with multiple cats. Nothing to harm cat during cleaning cycle; unit senses any cat or other animal poking around it or in it and auto shuts off till animal is gone and resets; then if no more intrusions will initiate cleaning cycle again. If you had like more than 3 or 4 cats I would consider getting 2 units for greater ease for them. I’ll be switching it on to automatic mode today. Also it was very quiet not noisy. Old You tube video of an older model was noisy; this one is quiet.
Richard (me): Plus you can just keep the unit switched off all day and night then just turn it on for a cleaning cycle in the morning to dump the poop too. That’s what I did this morning. That also might be a way to stay frugal on electricity too. The auto is great though for being out of town for a few days etc.
Richard (me): It seems this really is one of those rare products that really is as great as it’s advertised to be and is as the reviewers praise. Still it has one major con and that is in those reviews too. Most of them say the investment/price is really steep and it us; but still add that they were glad they went ahead and got it even though it is expensive; best decision of their lives. So far I’m in agreement.
Margaret: I bet there is cost savings in litter that over time, would recoup the investment — not to mention other great things about it. I appreciate the recommendation!
Margaret: OK, I read up on it and see that with our cats, I would need the bigger “Bubble” one (for our largest cat), but also she would need some steps to get in and out of it.
Richard (me): Yup I got the big bubble newer model, but refurbished (looked brand new to me); also my cat is towards the 15 lb. Upper limit recommendation too. Larger cats than 15 lbs. Have used it with bubble though. I have it as shown and he steps right up into it; but someday I’m thinking I’ll add the step up scratch ramp accessory too. I was a bit worried whether he’d step on up into it but he does without problem. He’s using it. Lol I love this!
Richard (me): Ah yup; I’ll be using plastic grocery bags for liners and works with 8 oz to 13 oz kitchen bags too. Plus litter save about 40%. So just with liners (now really garbage bags; no use of liners as before) and efficient litter use; eventually it does recoup initial cost. Still it was a forbidding price; very glad i did it and certain I’ll remain overjoyed I took the leap though.
Richard (me): Oh super easy to set up or maintain; not complicated at all. And I’m not a salesman either. Lol
Richard (me): I’m using tidy cat strong clump or arm & Hammer strong clump right Now too. They emailed me back same day on my question of what easy to find name brands litter would work well available at local grocery. Worlds best car litter clump works too but I don’t commute very far and Petco is too far away for me.
One other note on this Marg. Forget about the $100 rectangular litter boxes with an auto cleaning rake. I read up on many reviews and consumer reviews before deciding and those all end up 9 times out of 10 a real disappointment. The cleaning rakes get clogged up and cleaning them is frequent and messy etc.. However, the Cat Genie has some very good points to it too. Still has one bug that needs fixing and a plumber to install etc. Plus it’s stuck where you hook it up; not something you can change location with easily at all. Plus the maintenance costs for Cat Genie are all required to buy from them like replacement sanitizes etc and at their prices with out flexibility to use less expensive adequate 3rd party products. I figure when it fixes it’s one big bug concerning trapped poop and that terrible oder problem in it’s next generation model and if they allow 3rd party products to be used to fill up the sanitizer module and if you own a house and plan to stay there and never want to shift its location within the house much then it too might be wonderful. Around the same price as litter Robot plus plumber cost.

Hi,

I just wanted to say how much my wife and I liked your product. It’s been a year or so since we bought it and I decided to find a Facebook page to join, but noticed you didn’t have one, so I put up a fan page here: http://bit.ly/19amBg .

Thanks.
