What a b_umme_r – you’ve made so many (needed) improvements just after I bought my Litter Robot. I am quite happy with it, but I must admit there are a few things on your list I would like to have on mine. The quieter operation would be the first. Sometimes when I hear the thing operating I wonder what the strange loud noise is – even after four or five months….So if I need to replace mine down the road….

Anyway, what I am writing about is that I went to Target and bought the Target brand plastic kitchen bags, which seemed the most inexpensive … but then I noticed that the new bags really made a big difference in odor control. (Out of necessity it is kept in my bedroom so odor can become an issue.) The bags I bought at Target are labeled "odor neutralizer", which I had not noticed before I bought them – what a great idea! I never would have believed they’d be so effective. The odor after a couple of days _can_ be pretty bad, but with these bags there is _no_ odor at all – even after a week of daily use. Of course, when I open the drawer, it’s odorific, but not with the drawer closed and the thing in use.

So I do recommend the Litter Robot and I do and will suggest "odor neutralizing" bags to go with it.

Thanks -LRM

I have three cats and two had developed inappropriate urine habits. They expected a clean box 24/7 and as a working girl I could not attend to the box to their expectations. After a month with the Litter Robot I must say the situation is much better. They are not totally retrained yet but I can see the day where they use the box only. I did have one issue with one cat who was very reluctant to use the thing. He saw me set it up and saw it running and was terrified to go inside. It took nearly a week of two boxes (one VERY dirty) to get him to change over. DON"T let your cats see it run until they have used it a few times.

As for me, I could not be happier. Love this thing.

I just wanted to let you know I have had the litter robot for over three years and it is still going strong. It is hard to imagine having a cat without one.

I was skeptical, now I’m sold

I thought it was too much money at first, and then I shopped around and saw that for all the features it’s not much more than other models. I figured we’d give it a try. My cats went straight into it. No adjustment period for them at all. Now we sing its praises. Literally. We’ve made up a little ditty about it.

I received my litter robot about a month ago. It worked great right off the bat, but I initially had some issues with one of my cats hanging her rear end out of the globe opening and peeing on the step. I had initially decided that I would return the litter robot because I did not foresee my cat ending this strange habit. When I called to get an RMA number, the woman at the company was very understanding and offered me some helpful tips to try and persuade my cat to use the litter correctly. The woman even extended my money-back guarantee period! I tried the tricks the company suggested, then came up with my own (I constructed a simple flap to cover the opening of the litter box). Now both my cats have no issues using the litter box and I LOOOVE IT. I don’t even think about the litter anymore. There is no smell, no mess and no fuss!!! It is sooo easy and has allowed me to stop worrying about getting home to clean the litter. Great product and great customer service!!! Make sure to buy from the manufacturer!!!

A great product

After many years without a cat — I married a cat-hater — we a new kitten for the kids…and a litter robot. What a great device! Totally worth the cost. Training took us longer than expected, but now it’s all autopilot. You might consider a 60-day return period. He seems to enjoy the privacy and we enjoy the containment of the soiled litter and the odor. With this (and an odor neutralizing fan placed next to it) we have virtually no lingering cat box smell. Thanks for a great product.

Very satisfied after 2 years

It still works practically like new. The only difference is, the need for cleaning is a bit more frequent, now maybe three or four times a year. The first 6 months we didn’t clean it once. Anyway, cleaning is a simple 15-minute procedure with our garden hose.

If the new version is quieter, with all the other improvements (a deeper, V-shaped bottom is undoubtedly better); it must qualify as a true dream machine. We have two cats. One, which we "adopted" after it was abandoned (by some neighbors who moved away) and semi-feral, would never have become completely accepting of our family without the Litter-Robot. So she may owe very her life to it.

This product is fabulous! I have two cats, ages 10 and 14, and was a little reluctant to purchase the Litter-Robot, as they are a bit old to "learn new tricks." However, I followed your advice and left the old litter box next to the Robot, and in two days they were both using it. Not only is easier for the owners now, but the cats are in a much more healthful environment. Expensive, but well-worth the money.

This is the best cat box ever! I have tried every type of cat box out there trying to find one that works like it’s advertised. One that cuts down the smell and work involved. I have finally found it after countless years of scooping, cleaning, deodorizing, and investing tons of money into several different products. I bought the Litter Robot a couple months ago and I have a new found freedom from being a cat box slave. I love it so much I just bought one as a Christmas present for my brother and sister-in-law. They have 3 cats and he has to scoop 2-3 times a day. Plus he travels with his job and she has to be careful with the litter because she’s pregnant. I have 2 cats and now only empty the drawer once a week, and all it requires is removing the bag and replacing it with a new one. No scooping at all, plus no smell. It’s so maintenance free that I have to remind myself to check the drawer once a week. It is also much easier to clean. It was impossible to clean my old cat box without getting all the wires wet.

I still had to scoop with the LitterMaid and that broke every year (of course just after the warranty ran out). I was tired of having to replace the old box every year, plus the new LitterMaid model doesn’t work well at all. My friend had just bought it and was so frustrated with it. I did some research online and read testimonials about the Litter Robot on another site. I haven’t read a bad testimonial about this product, whereas the other products had several. I’m a student and was a little apprehensive about the cost, but took a chance because of the guarantee. I don’t regret it at all. It is worth every penny! Plus I don’t have to buy the extra receptacles or carbon filters. I use regular, inexpensive trash bags. That alone saves so much money.

It did take one of my cats a couple weeks to get used to it. There was only one incident where my cat went outside the box. I put the old box down next to the Robot again, then removed it after a couple days and haven’t had a problem since.

Now all those people I know who don’t have cats just because of the cat box smell and hassle can enjoy the furry little creatures as much as I do.

Excellent item for the cats and me!

My three cats have been using the Litter-Robot for over a year now, they and I love it. The primary reason for us ordering this was we had a problem with our dog getting into the standard type boxes. The Litter-Robot not only solved that problem but the convenience and ease of cleaning has made a previously uninviting chore now pleasant by comparison. We did have an adjustment issue recently but the prompt courteous Technical Support Service made this problem go away with an easy fix.

Thank you for the Litter-Robot!

I just received mine today, and I’m amazed with this wonderful product. My first automatic litterbox was a Purr-Forma. I had it for a month or so before it stopped working. I took it to Petsmart and got it exchanged for a LitterMaid. The LitterMaid worked passably, but it was horribly noisy and the rake kept getting stuck. It would wake me up at night, continually trying to complete its cycle 4 or 5 times before giving up. Desperate for a better solution, I scoured the Internet and found the Litter Robot. I watched the demonstration videos, and it certainly seemed like a better solution.

Out of options and ideas, I ordered it the same day, and received it right on schedule. Let me just say, it works! And it’s wonderful! Both my cats love it, and so do I! People, *this* is what an automatic litterbox is supposed to be: Easy, simple, clean, and quiet. And unlike the other automatic litterboxes, this one doesn’t keep you locked in to proprietary supplies. You just use kitchen trash bags!

I’ve never written a product review before, but having seen this wonderful product in action, I felt like I had to let everybody know! If you’re wondering whether or not this is a good investment, IT IS! Steer clear of the other junk and buy yourself a Litter Robot. You won’t regret it.

Thanks so much for this great invention!

Many thanks,
-Meyanti

November 27th 2006 will be the one year anniversary of purchasing your ingenious automated litter box. I have two cats (one of which is 15 lbs.) and they both love it. I only have to change out the container once a week and it is so nice to enjoy my cats without having to go through the hassles of cleaning a litter box every day. I have tried the other "raking" litter boxes to my disappointment. Your litter robot has got to be the envy of the industry.

I am currently selling my home and several prospective buyers have commented and asked me about the litter robot. In fact I think it gets more attention than my house!

Keep up the good work and maybe you can come up with some other inventions to make the rest of my life easier as well.

I have had the Litter Robot for 8 months. I left it unplugged for the first two days and would plug it in to clean it while the cats weren’t around. Now I leave it on and it has made my life so much easier. I am saving so much money on litter and litter bags since regular grocery bags fit.

The best part is that I am saving a lot of time and I never worry about coming home to a smelly apartment. The cats were not scared of it, just curious about the noise in the beginning. They were used to it after a week and now they ignore it while it’s cleaning.

I have a 16 lb cat and she fits fine. I only wish I would have bought this when I got my first cat! Thank you for making this incredible product. No other automatic cleaner even comes close.

I just wanted you to know that I am absolutely LOVING the litter robot!! I have 3 cats and I was at my wit’s end trying to manage having 3 clean litter boxes all the time. They are all using the litter robot more than the other two pans!!! You guys are geniuses and I’ve been telling my friends about your product. Feel free to use my message as an endorsement!

Litter Robot is WONDERFUL!

I received my litter robot a few weeks ago, and both of my cats used it right away. The older cat, whoÕs pretty nervous, didnÕt like the cleaning cycle, so I only ran it when either he was out of the room or I was there to reassure him it was okay. Now he accepts it (still a little unhappily) because it guarantees that the box is always clean Ð a major (huge, enormous, earth-shattering) priority for him. The fearless kitten (well, 7 months is still a kitten in my mind) has completely figured it out. He knows that when he puts his weight on the step, the box will clean itself when heÕs done, but that it will also stop cleaning in mid-cycle if he steps on it again. So after using the box, he waits until it starts cleaning (sometimes he just puts his weight on the step and waits), and then jumps in without touching the step so he can enjoy the ride. He really seems to quite enjoy it! I put baking soda in the litter, just as I did with the old box, and that helps quite a bit in controlling the odor. But cleaning is so easy now that itÕs hard to believe itÕs really a litter box. Thanks so much for a great product that really lives up to the promises.

Sarah Rodarte

p.s. You might consider using a pressure sensor instead of the mechanical step so that the more nervous cats (like my Schroedinger) have less to worry about. He was pretty concerned at first about the step moving underneath his weight. People might be willing to pay a little more for that option Ð I know that I would have. You might also consider adding a container to add baking soda automatically every time the box cleans itself. Owners could just add baking soda to the container when it got low.

I LOVE THE LITTER ROBOT!!!

This device has changed my daily routine. Simplifying it and thereby changing my life. So easy, so smart, just hard to believe everyone doesnÕt have one. I honestly think that this company is making cat ownership so much easier that people who might not have considered it before are. That, to me, means more adoptions and less homeless/destroyed petsÉWHICH IS FANTASTIC!

Best Purchase I’ve Made for my Home

I’ve had the litter robot for about 5 months, and I have absolutely loved it. My cats started using it quickly (one more quickly than the other, but that’s cats for ya). One cat clocks in at 25 lbs, the other is rather skittish, but tends to be aggressive rather than flighty. I did have to get a covered litter box to get the more resistant cat to recognize an enclosed area as her litter box, but the trick of raising the box above the level of the litter robot entrance worked like a charm.

From a technical standpoint, I have not had a single problem with the robot. My boyfriend and I put it together easily and have had no problems with the mechanisms at all.

Customer service was absolutely wonderful. I received a follow-up call to make sure that I was aware of the size and weight of the boxes when I requested they be sent to my boyfriend’s office to make sure he’d be able to bring them home easily.

This was absolutely the best cat-related purchase I could have made…my only regret is that I didn’t buy one sooner.

Thank you for a great product!

Let me tell you about my litter robot!

I must let you know that I did a lot of research before investing in a litter robot. The cost for a litter robot was my first concern. Then after dumping so much clumpable litter all the time, I decided to call the company myself. I spoke with someone who was so wonderful in sharing with me all the facts about the robot and how conservative the litter robot was on litter. I came home that afternoon and ordered my robot. I received my robot within a week and was so excited to plug it in. I need to add that the looks of the robot are awesome. I am very unique and love unique things – that is why I own Sphynx cats, but the litter robot is an awesomely unique piece of furniture and a great addition to my home of uniqueness. My Sphynx love it and I had read several reviews where people said how noisy it was – my husband sleeps with a C-Pap machine at night and it is a lot quieter than the C-Pap machine. I love my litter robot and thank you so much for having persons with such knowledge who answer calls when customers call with inquiries.

Life-saver

As I was desperate to find a new self cleaning litter box for my 5 cats, I didn’t want the original ‘LitterMaid’ anymore. I realize having 5 cats is a lot for any machine to handle, however something had to be done. I had been having problems with the LM not cleaning thoroughly enough. I hated the fact that the waste settled to the bottom and turned to thick unscoopable clay. I read the reviews on the latest model with metal teeth and not many people were happy with it. I thought LitterMaid had a corner on the market and no one else made these! Out of curiosity, I did an Internet ‘search’ for self cleaning litter boxes and found Litter Robot. It is an amazing machine! The price scared me at first, but I was desperate and it’s worth every penny! The one thing that I was apprehensive about was getting all 5 of my cats used to it. Some of the testimonials said their cats were fearful, at first. All of my 5 cats used it the third day and continue to do so!! The fact that it keeps the litter from getting stagnant is an absolutely incredible innovation!

I don’t normally contact a company about their product, but the Litter Robot is really worth some praise. I used other automated litter boxes like the Littermaid before, but the Litter Robot is by far the best one out there. I have been using it for over a year, and it has worked flawlessly. My cat took to it right away and has used it consistently. The unit may be expensive to purchase, but itÕs worth every penny. Not only does it work great, but it uses ordinary, cheap, garbage bags, and I am amazed at how efficiently it uses the litter. There is no doubt that I use significantly less litter than I had in the past. Great product! I recommend it to everyone.

Sincerely,

Eric Young

That was a lot easier than I expected!

Our Litter Robot arrived on the day my husband was out of town on business and I was sad to think I would have to wait until he got back to set it up and give it a try. (He does all the assembly at our house; I’m mechanically challenged!) I decided to open the box and have a look and was encouraged to find that you just set the top on the bottom and attach the plug and it’s assembled.

I followed instructions for initializing, which caused Milly and Molly to come running to check out the new noise at our house. After I filled it as instructed, I turned it off to let them get used to it, but every time I looked they were climbing on it, sniffing at it, or laying near it. After I saw one of the girls use the litter box, I turned it on and left it engaged. I heard it cycle quite a few times that evening as they explored. By morning I could tell that they had completely forsaken the old-fashioned box and were really into their upgrade. I did away with the old one and am now am looking for the appropriate spot for the Litter Robot as it is too big to fit where the old box was. I’m sure that will be a small price to pay for no more scooping litter. I changed the garbage bag once already just to see if it was as easy as promised and it was! Yes, the Litter Robot costs more but not having to mess with yuckie litter is worth a lot to me!

Thanks for your innovation!

Three months ago I purchased the Litter-Robot for my two small-sized cats (6-9 lbs). It has made my life a lot easier and cut down on the litter mess. I am both an electrical engineer and a software engineer (working on embedded microprocessors). The design of the Litter-Robot is impressive. Everything has been well thought out, from the drawer that holds the dirty litter, to the rubber bottom that flexes when the robot is dumping the dirty litter, so that nothing sticks to the enclosure.

I have tried all of the other types of "automatic" litter boxes, and none compares with the Litter-Robot.

Thanks for making the life of a very busy engineer a little easier!

Linda Butler

PS – have you ever thought of approaching Hammacher Schlemmer about selling your product? I bet they’d be as impressed as I am.

September 17, 2006

I’ve never written a testimonial about any product that I have purchased in my life. But in the case of the Litter-Robot I just had to let all of you cat lovers, litter box scooping haters out there know what an amazing product this is! Don’t be scared off by the price I was initially and investigated other "automatic" litter box alternatives. All had issues and/or problems that made them ultimately useless. Since there was a 30 day money back guarantee I decided to buy the Litter-Robot and it is an amazing machine! It makes litter box chores as easy as taking out the trash.

This thing legitimately works. I’m telling you it makes the loathsome task of litter box scooping and disposal a thing of the past. Our cat took to it the same day we received it. We have had it for 6 months now with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The waste is collected in a tray under the unit in which I place a regular kitchen garbage bag. I just take this out once a week when I take out my regular trash and just replace the bag and aside from re-filling it with litter, which is averaging an incredible 1.5-2 months between fills, that is the only involvement I have with the process of litter box cleaning. The top part of the unit can be taken outside and hosed off once in a while as there are no electronics in that part of the unit. Litter box smell is very minimal to non existent, depending upon various factors.

Please do not hesitate to order this product. I give it my highest recommendation!

I told my sister that I wasn’t comfortable with her spending so much on a gift for me. She ignored me, and boy am I glad she did! She and my aunt pooled resources and got a Litter-Robot for me for Christmas ’05. I am still saying thank you. This ingenious device is the best thing since sliced bread. Every time it cycles I experience an enjoyable sense of freedom – I don’t have to scoop any more!! It is everything advertised and well worth the expense, even if I had been the one to pay for it. I’ve told all my cat owning friends about it, and they are quite envious. If I win the lottery, I’m buying one for all of them!

I have had my Litter-Robot for a year and a half and my cats and I think it is fabulous. I decided to buy it partially on the good reviews of customer service. Those reviews were correct and I have been very satisfied with the nice and prompt response. I use the litter from Sam’s which is quite inexpensive and works fine.

I trained my two cats to use it by first letting them see it a while and then putting them in the garage with no other litter box for 24 hrs. That worked and they prefer it over any other box. This box may be expensive but it is worth every penny!

As a retired chemical engineer (who went back to law school for a second career) I can’t tell you how pleased we are with our Litter-Robot. But I am even more impressed with the concept. The concept is completely "out of the box" and breaks paradigms. All the problems we had with three different "rake" type litter boxes are gone. The engineering concept is marvelous. The cleaning is easy as water never gets near the electronics or motor and you can hose the main unit without worry and do a better job of cleaning. The rake type would get wet and then not work for a day while the cables that were water sensitive dried out. Also if a spec of litter stuck in the front sensor of the box type, it would freeze up.

My wife and I refer to the unit affectionately as "the space ship" because it resembles a 1950′s movie space ship. Our cats love it and tried to get in it while I was setting it up. Thanks again for giving us an extra couple of hours a week to spend playing with our cats instead of doing the "drudgery."

With 3 cats, I felt like all I did was clean out the litter box, 2-3 times a day. I decided to try a self-cleaning box, but had no idea what would work best. I found the Litter-Robot online, but hesitated because of the expense. When I saw the 30 day money back guarantee, I figured what’s to lose? I received it quickly and had it assembled in no time at all…very simple. I set it where their old litter box was, but kept the old box in the same room just in case. All 3 cats were using the Litter-Robot by the 2nd or 3rd day (even our one cat that hates covered litter boxes). So I removed the old box, and by the end of the 3rd day, I plugged it in. I l-o-v-e it. *The cats constantly have fresh litter and I don’t have to even _think_ about it for days*. And we love to travel, so this makes our cat nanny visits much easier and fewer and further between. My husband didn’t even flinch when he found out the price. He thinks ‘the cement mixer’ is one of the coolest things he’s ever seen.

The Litter-Robot is a life-saver! Instead of scooping litter ever single day, I empty the litter tray about once a week, check on it occasionally, and that’s it. My cat took to it immediately and I can’t imagine not having one. It’s great!

Also, everyone in the company is really nice and helpful. I have had really personalized service.

Thanks Litter-Robot!

I bought the Litter-Robot a little over a year ago. I had trouble getting the unit to work. Technical Support not only returned my phone calls, they called on their own to update my status. When it became clear that the unit was defective, Customer Service sent the replacement immediately!!! I’ve always believed that you learn much from how a company interacts with their customers. I’ve never dealt with a friendlier, knowledgeable staff!!!!

As far as using the product, it has been unbelievable. My cat loves the fact his litter is ALWAYS clean. The only negative I have ever found about having cats is dealing with the litter. Your product eliminates that issue!!

I don’t know where to begin! I have had my Litter-Robot for almost a year. I have eight cats and one "guest" who has been with me for 6 months. They all took to it almost before I got it out of the box. I had sworn by LitterMaid boxes for many years, but found that they had begun to cheapen the product. I was so glad I found that out, because even if they improved the LitterMaid I would never go back. The only "complaint" I have it that I do have to empty the one robot daily. I hope to save up enough money to get another one. There is usually a line to get in!!!!! Thank you, Thank you Thank you for your ingenious invention.

I purchased my first Litter-Robot over a year ago and have used the 18 month warranty twice. The first time the motor base needed to be returned for repair. Shipping was paid for both ways, and the robot was returned within two weeks. The second time, the dome needed replacing and the replacement dome arrived promptly. I and my cats have been thrilled with the Litter-Robot, and I have just purchased my second Litter-Robot. It is so rare in this day and age to find a company that stands behind its product, but this one does! I wouldn’t hesitate recommending a Litter-Robot purchase to anyone I met. (Hint-the 10 gallon plastic bags at Costco fit the drawer perfectly!)

First I had a LitterMaid. Clumps and incessant whining raking noise until the rake would give up after about an hour of driving me crazy. It would reliably get stuck 2/3 of the way down, and my cat would go in my closet. Ew. Then I got a PetMate Purrforma Plus. Same basic problem, with the added bit where the rake would get misaligned and one side would reach the end before the other. Cue the incessant whining raking noise. Now I have a Litter-Robot. I love it. I love everything about it. My cat loves it. I pay about 3 cents per liner bag and use standard bargain clumping litter. It’s black and it faces the wall, and a friend warned me recently that my cat was getting into my wine chiller. It camouflages perfectly with the rest of my utility room appliances. I empty it once a week, and could probably go quite a bit longer, but I’m a slave to routine. It’s the best invention ever, ridiculously simple and completely functional. It alleviates all of the problems I ever had with the other litter boxes, and it makes both my cat and my closet happy. Yea Litter-Robot!

Like most customers it isn’t often that I go out of my way to write a positive letter such as this, but given the obvious and demonstrable superiority of your product I think it would be a crime to not let you know how much we appreciate it.

Having two cats in a two bedroom apartment means that my wife and I have the daily chore of cleaning out the litter box, which means that we lose about 10-15 minutes every day in performing this unpleasant task. Uncover the box, scoop the litter, shake the liner around to loosen up the stuff that’s stuck to it, scoop again, tie up the bag, remove the litter and the liner, wipe down the box, put in a new liner, replace the litter, add more litter as needed, cover it up, vacuum the surrounding area, and throw away the waste bag outside. That’s the task — every day.

We had been toying with the idea of an automatic litter box. Like most people we first looked at the LitterMaid. (In fact, my mother-in-law has one.) After doing a lot of online research on the LitterMaid I’ve found that there’s a general agreement on it: When it works it works well, but there’s a lot of tricks to getting it working. For example, the litter has to be exactly the right height. The comb needs to be cleaned regularly. And instances of breakdowns are pretty high. (My mother-in-law is on her second LitterMaid, the first one having been replaced under warranty, and she is reporting that the second unit is on its way out as well.) That’s not to mention the HIGH cost of those special waste liners that have to be installed just right or the machine jams during the cleaning process.

We also looked at the automatic litter box from PetMate. This one actually got our attention first as it’s physically larger than the largest LitterMaid unit, which is rather important to us as one of our cats (Kali) weighs about 20 lbs. We found the construction quality of the PetMate unit to be less than ideal and there was still the high cost and complicated installation process of the waste liners. The deal killer on this one, however, was the online reports we read from people who found that the comb does a sweep at every interval — regardless of whether or not the cat actually used the box. This means that, at its highest delay setting (20 minutes), the unit would sweep approximately 72 times per day. (Admittedly we don’t know for sure if this is true, but we read many reports by customers online who all said the same thing.)

At this point we were just about ready to sigh and shrug and buy a LitterMaid, but then we noticed a few people who reviewed the LitterMaid also mentioned a "Litter-Robot" which we’d never seen or heard of before. I found your web site and was impressed by the mechanical simplicity of the unit. No tracks or belts or exposed wires or anything like that. Anyone with an ounce of mechanical ability will tell you that a simple machine will always be more reliable than a complex machine. In comparison the LitterMaid, the Litter-Robot is about as simple as you can get!

I did the same research on the Litter-Robot that I’d done on the others, and I was surprised to discover not a single bad thing about it. In fact, I went out of my way to look for bad things about the Litter-Robot, even doing a Google acid test by searching for "Litter-Robot sucks". (Try that with virtually any product — "Windows sucks", "LitterMaid sucks", "Lexmark sucks" — and you’ll see what I mean.) EVERYONE said the same thing: Litter-Robot WORKS!

Admittedly, the $350 price tag put us off enough to reconsider the LitterMaid (which we could have purchased a refurbished model from eBay for less than half the cost). We really had to dig deep to justify spending $350 on a litter device for our cats to use. Ultimately, we decided to go for it, eyeing the 30 day money back guarantee as our escape if it didn’t actually work as promised.

Happily both of our cats took to the Litter-Robot almost immediately; Hannibal (the smaller of our two cats) was a little scared of it at first but hopped in soon enough. The only obvious problem we had was with our choice of litter. The "SwheatScoop" litter that we normally used is unsuitable for the Litter-Robot as the SwheatScoop takes longer than 7 minutes to establish a hard lump that can be easily raked out. On a more positive note, we were able to replace the SwheatScoop (56¢/lb) with generic clumping clay litter (25¢/lb) from our local warehouse store, and the litter box liners we used in our traditional litter box (25¢ each) were replaced by regular trash can liners from the same warehouse receptacles (less than 2¢ each). This FAR outstrips the LitterMaid and its custom liners at an astonishing $1.21 apiece — PLUS there’s the LitterMaid carbon filter ($1.04 each) which is replaced with each waste receptacle! (Our Litter-Robot is virtually odor-free and it sits within four feet from my wife’s desk and within eight feet from my own desk.)

With this in mind, we realized that the real value and savings in the Litter-Robot is in its apparent longevity ("simple devices last longer") and the significantly lower cost of consumables. We think your potential customers should be made more aware of this; your web site doesn’t emphasize this nearly enough. We did the math on the Litter-Robot and found that, within a year, it becomes cheaper than the LitterMaid by a significant amount:

LITTER-ROBOT: $350
TRASH LINERS: $8 for 500

LITTERMAID: $160 ("Elite Mega" model)
WASTE RECEPTACLES: $58 for 48
CARBON FILTERS: $50 for 48

Assuming the waste compartment is emptied and a new liner (and carbon filter) is installed twice a week (which is not unreasonable for a two-cat household), your total cost for the Litter-Robot after one year is $351.66. For the Litter Maid, it’s $394 — almost a $50 savings! After two years the difference is astronomical; the LitterMaid will have you paying $234/year in receptacles and carbon filters, while the Litter-Robot will cost a scant $1.66! (Plus the cost of litter and electricity, of course, but in the interest of fairness I am operating under the assumption that both boxes use the same amount of litter and power.)

Even if you step it down to one replacement liner and filter per week, the cost still weighs in favor of the Litter-Robot. The LitterMaid will cost $277 the first year and $117 every year thereafter, while the Litter-Robot will cost $350.83 the first year and 83¢ every year thereafter. For households with more than two cats the Litter-Robot becomes an outright bargain in just the cost of liners alone!

Overall, so far I am extremely impressed by this bit of poop-removal technology. We no longer have the guilt about not cleaning the litter box, odor has been virtually eliminated, the cats are (seemingly) happier with an always-clean litter box, and we’ve saved potentially hundreds of dollars over buying the LitterMaid. We recommended it to all of our friends, and my mother-in-law is planning on buying one "eventually" (she’s got a leaking roof right now and can’t afford a Litter-Robot just now).

There is, in fact, only one improvement that I can suggest for the Litter-Robot. The step that leads up to the opening often collects stray litter which has to be brushed into the collection bin or otherwise cleaned away. It shouldn’t be too difficult to redesign the collection bin so that, instead of a simple flat piece of plastic, make it half-bowl shaped with a plastic mesh top. Any litter that lands on the top (either dug out by the cats or transferred from cat paws) would be knocked through the mesh and into the "bowl" which would then route it to the disposal bin. You would need one additional clip (to hold the liner in) below the base of the "bowl" inside the liner tray so that the litter doesn’t avoid the liner. Plus, the roughly triangular shape of the "bowl" would provide a sturdier step for the cats than the current flat plastic.

Aside from that one suggestion for improvement, I think your device is brilliant and should be the top choice for anyone who hates dealing with the litter box, or is otherwise fed up with the high cost and questionable reliability of the LitterMaid and similar products.

Now, for your next trick, how about a MUCH smaller version for ferrets? :-)

Sincerely,
Steve & Erica Godun (& Kali & Hannibal)

I have been using the Litter-Robot for over two months now without any problems whatsoever. I have two cats, which weigh 13 and 14 pounds, respectively.

I didn’t bother with a gradual change – I just took out the old litter box and set up the Litter-Robot.

The 14 lb female was a bit skeptical at first, but my orange male tabby jumped right in before I finished setting it up, and once she saw him use it she eventually tried it.

I empty the drawer every day and prefer not to use bags, so I placed an aluminum lasagna baking pan in the drawer instead, and it worked out perfectly.

Great Product.

Litter-Robot, you are my hero! I’m living in my first apartment; everyone knows how small it must be. My kitten Tut lies in front of the food bowl and uses the litter box a minimum of five times a day. Needless to say, in a small, one-bedroom apartment, it didn’t create the desired living condition. With my tax refund (Litter-Robot IS expensive) I bought the end all of litter boxes. Granted, with Tut’s digestive practice, I do need to change the bag every other day, but I NEVER smell his little presents! Honestly, I think the Litter-Robot was one of the wisest investments I’ve made and luckily I can’t say…I wish I’d done it sooner. For all out there thinking of buying this product…DO IT…you will NOT regret it! The smell is over, the dumping of messy litter is gone, and the cleaning of a litter box is nil…and an added bonus of minimal litter getting kicked everywhere. Also, the maintenance is cheap…grocery bags (free) fit in the bag compartment, and the litter is the scoopable kind you’d buy anyway…but it lasts forever (I’m still on my first litter input after a month). I had to change the entire litter box every week before. Take it from someone tight on money…it’ll save you in the long run!

I want to thank you so much. This is the first product that has lived up to its name. My cats are happy, I am happy. I only wish the garbage bag tossed itself out.. Again thank you and when I need a new one I will order it again.

Have you ever considered moving the spot where the adapter plugs into the base to the back instead of the side?? My cats have chewed the cord, and unplug it when we’re away. I think this could be eliminated if the connection took place in the back, since most people probably put the Litter-Robot in a corner. Other than that, I am completely satisfied with my Litter-Robot. I have two cats, and empty the pan about every 4-5 days. If they’d quit unplugging it, it would be perfect.

Thanks for such a good product.

I have to say I am a true believer. I have had cats all my life. I currently have 2 Persians and a Russian blue and they are my children. I have tried everything from 3 separate boxes, to sifting litter, scoop able litter, everything you can think of. I could never keep it clean. No matter how much you cleaned it there was always that cat waiting to be the first to go in the clean box. When I ordered the Litter-Robot I really did not think it would work but I had tried every other contraption so I had nothing to lose.

I was also worried because 2 of my cats are very skittish so I did not think they would go in this crazy orb like structure. I actually set it up without plugging it in for a couple of days just so they would get used to where to go potty. Then I turned it on. My adventurous cat showed the other 2 that it was ok. Now they think it is a game to go potty and then get out and watch it clean the litter. Crazy cats but I have to admit I watched it to it truly is amazing! Way to go I have recommended it to every cat lover I meet.

My cats received a unit as a Christmas present from a friend and I have to say it is the most awesome gift for them!! My friend has watched me toil over changing my litter for my cats over the years, yes, I said change because I dread this task so much instead of sifting like the rest of the world I used to just throw it away and start anew. I have even owned a LitterMaid and have to say I found it such a chore. Not only did it not sift properly but there was always this hard layer of urine clay at the bottom the spines could never reach. I spent more time cleaning this awful contraption and it ended up becoming more of a hassle than a help. I went out and bought the simple box to use and gave the LitterMaid away. I would rather clean windows than deal with litter. When I received my Litter-Robot my life changed. I cannot understand how I have survived until now!

This machine is the crème de la crème! Changing simple little bags is sooo easy even I can deal with this!! And no worries about my cats hating this robot-god, they love anything I throw their way. Why! In one apartment I had them opening up a cabinet to get to their box to keep the smell down. Although I have to say they still love pressing the step while it’s cleaning, curiosity I guess. They also don’t like climbing down from it, instead they jump out of it (you don’t think that’s going to hurt the sensor over time do you??)

But refilling is another thing… I thought I might add some thought into the refilling part of this machine…… I have really bad sinuses and asthma and every time I go to refill this thing the dust from the litter kicks up and out the front hole. It’s disgusting and makes me sneeze. How come you folks haven’t come up with some sort of door or cover for this hole if not for the catÕs sake but for refilling sake? Once again, I want to reiterate how much I like to simplify my life and scooping is what I have to do now so I don’t get dust storms, what a chore. As I type I am thinking of ways, maybe stick a towel over the opening while pouring. But seriously, folks, lets improve upon this already awesome design with some sort of covering to stop the dust??!! C- and co.

Hi

A few weeks ago I wrote to the nice people at Litter-Robot about my two Humongous cats (25# and 26#) asking if the product would work for them. I received both a phone call and an email and received encouraging responses to all of the questions I had, as well as exact inside dimensions.

My cats are not fat – they are just enormous. I went ahead and ordered a Litter-Robot thinking I had to give it a shot. I could return the unit if I did not have success and would only be out shipping costs-it was worth it. Our outflow of kitty litter into the environment was just too much.

What fantastic results! Both cats took to it immediately. A little over a week and they have both adjusted beautifully – no accidents and ALL OF THEIR BULK fits inside of the Litter-Robot.

We are thrilled with the Litter-Robot. Everything works just as described. One of our cats is particularly fascinated by it and waits outside after he uses it for it to turn on.

The first time my husband and I emptied the tray full of "results" we looked at each other in amazement wondering why we did not do this sooner.

I am so grateful for this innovation. It is making our lives so much cleaner, lighter and less stinky.

Thanks to Litter-Robot!

I bought my daughter two kittens for Christmas and it’s been a few years since I had cats and was quite surprised just how much comes out of these little guys. My house is very small and the odor from the litter box quickly filled the air everywhere! I love gadgets and Googled until I found a web site that reviewed pet products. The Litter-Robot has some pretty good reviews and is the only one that offers to refund your purchase price if you aren’t satisfied in 30 days. I took the bait and this giant black alien planet arrived at my small house. I set it up in the kitchen (no other place to put it) and the kittens had absolutely no trouble getting used to climbing into the mother ship. They are now five months old and the Litter-Robot works flawlessly except for one issue. I built a house for it that hangs on the outside wall of my kitchen. The kittens climb through a hole in the wall to enter the Litter-Robot. Inside the box that houses the Litter-Robot is a low velocity fan that draws air past the Litter-Robot to the outside pulling all of the odors with it. I never see or smell anything that triggers my mind to clean out the Litter-Robot! The Litter-Robot works, it’s easy to clean, it’s expensive, and it’s worth it. Highly recommended.

I did research online and I am so happy I chose the Litter Robot. My 2 cats Louie & Tye love it!!! Tye was scared of it at first but I followed the tips given to me by your company and within 2 weeks he was going in it w/no problems. The clean-up is a breeze and NO MORE SMELL!!! I am so happy! I don’t spend day after day scooping and worrying about my house smelling like cat litter!!! It is great! I was worried at first but the 30 day return policy made me feel at ease. I now want to get another cat b/c litter box life so, so much better! It is worth the money. Thank you so much. This product is awesome!!!

I am absolutely delighted with the Litter Robot, as are "the babies." They never hesitated to use it, nor ever had any fear of it.

I was really growing tried of all the dust which constantly accumulated in the house as a result of the daily sifting of the kitty litter. There was really no way to avoid that annoying dust before I bought The Litter Robot. With the ultra fine "premium" kitty litter which my "divas" demand, the litter the dust was an even greater problem. It seemed I was dusting twice a week. I didn’t think I would ever find a solution to this problem. The automatic "raking type" litter boxes looked like just the thing two curious kitties would get tangled up in.

Then, I saw The Litter Robot while searching online for a litter box which not only "helped" my kitties, but helped their "mommy" too. When I read the product description, and the method the machine operates, I felt my problems were solved. I haven’t been disappointed. The slow rotation of the globe, which is basically closed during the cleaning process eliminates the problem of kitty litter dust blowing everywhere — dust which is unnoticed when sifting the litter box daily, but is definitely noticed when it accumulates on the furniture. As a test, prior to using The Litter Robot I did a thorough cleaning. The house is still clean, and the furniture is dustfree — everything I hoped for.

I hadn’t noticed this benefit mentioned in any of the testimonials from your other satisfied customers, so I thought I would bring this to your attention, and thank you for your help in lessening my housekeeping tasks. With a full time job, family, and everything else in my busy life, any time saved in any type of housekeeping chores makes your product worth every cent.

March 16, 2006

We bought our first Litter Robot a couple of months ago, just to see if it was worth it. And how it is!! We bought a second one after a week. I have been so thrilled with mine that I just purchased one for my mother who is retired and has limited mobility – but also has two indoor kitties. It is so easy to use and clean up, I don’t have to worry about her hurting herself with heavy litter bags and refills. Within two days all four of our cats were using it – and we couldn’t be happier! No more smell, no more mess – and the clean up is VERY easy! No more cat smell either, that is wonderful!! Best of all we are actually /saving/ money – our litter consumption has dropped incredibly, and we don’t have to buy expensive litter box liners anymore. Less litter (and non-premium at that!) AND being able to use cheap trash can liners? WOW! All I can say is that those two Litter Robots were the best investment we’ve ever made. I was extremely skeptical at first, but I’m completely sold on them. We are looking forward to many years of happy cats and clean cat boxes.

Our cats give them 16 paws up!! And we give you our complete appreciation – our life is SO much easier now! We have been telling all of our friends and family – even the ones that don’t have cats!!

I’ve used most of the tips described on your website and in your manual to get my squeamish cats used to the LR, and they eventually worked. I also came up with some on my own tactics, that I thought I would share in case you wanted to tell other customers who may be having trouble getting their cats to use the LR.

The first problems is that the cats seemed confused that the opening of the LR was so much higher than their old enclosed litter box, so what I did was to place the old litter box next to the LR as you recommend, but I also placed the old litter box on top of a sturdy box so that its opening was now about the same height as the LR’s opening. They continued to use the old box for a couple days, but this got them used to entering through a higher entrance hole. Later, I placed the old box even higher, thus making it more difficult to enter than the LR, hoping it would encourage them to use the lower (and now increasing cleaner) LR.

Secondly, I had placed a large cardboard box over the LR with a hole cut out for the entrance port, as suggested somewhere on your site. I also got a second large box and put it over the neighboring old litter box, thus blurring the visual difference between the 2 boxes, and making the new LR seem less alien and scary.

Once I was sure both cats had used the LR, I took away the old litter box completely. Then, over the next couple days, I would cut the opening in the cardboard box surrounding the LR larger and larger, so they would see more of the LR and less of the box, thus gradually getting them used to seeing the LR. Once I got to the point where the entire front of the cardboard box was cut away and the LR was completely visible, I just took the entire cardboard box away, and now they use it fine. I may have been more cautious than I needed to be for my cats, but I wanted to be safe than sorry, since I really wanted them to use the LR. But if someone haw a real scaredy cat on their hands, I thought they might find these tips useful. -Rick Bamford

I have had the Litter Robot for about 5 months now, and it is the best thing I have ever purchased! I have 4 cats who use it regularly and I am very happy with the way it works. I have not had a problem with it yet, except for my one male who insists on stepping on the ledge so that it turns on and off during the cleaning cycle! There is absolutely no odor with this product, and that is very important as it is in our bedroom, due to my older cat. I do change the bag every 3rd day, and it is so easy. Thanks for this wonderful item!

I just got my new litter box 2 weeks ago. I put it together, put some litter in it and left it sitting, unplugged, next to the old one for one day. I was really worried because one of my cats (I have 2) weighed over 15 pounds and is very set in his ways. I removed the old litter box the second day and both have using the new box since then. No more scooping. Thank you for a wonderful product. I just wished I bought it 2 months ago when you had it for 30 dollars off. Yes it costs a lot, but it is worth every penny.

I have had my Litter-Robot for about 16 months, and I LOVE IT! Recently I had to use another automated litter box for a few days while it was being repaired, and the other product was so terrible, I brought it back within a few days. The Litter-Robot is reliable, it cleans litter without leaving little lumps of waste in it, it is incredibly easy to clean and empty, and the receptacle holds a 3-4 days worth of our two cats’ waste without problems. Customer service has been fantastic. I bought another for my best friend, plan to buy some for my family members, and recommend it to anyone. If you consider what it does, the price is negligible! Don’t waste another day cleaning a litter box!!

I have to say I was very skeptical about this product, particularly since it was only available online and the cost was more than any other product I had researched.

After reading the numerous positive testimonials and given the 30-day return policy I decided to take a chance and ordered one.

I have a very nervous, older cat and was worried she wouldn’t take to the Litter Robot. She tends to go about as much as 2 cats so I was constantly scooping & changing her box. I had tried every litter out there in an attempt to cut down on the number of times I had to maintain the box each week. Nothing made any significant difference. Given her very skittish behavior I was sure she would reject the Litter Robot outright. However, I held out hope and followed the recommendations in the manual on how to get your cat accustomed to the new device.

I intentionally didn’t clean her box after receiving the Litter Robot (as recommended) and setup the new device beside her existing box without plugging it in. I did this for about 2 days just to get her used to the sight & smell of the new box and then filled the Litter Robot with premium, scoopable litter and left that for 2-3 more days, again without plugging it in. I began to worry after 4 days since I didn’t see any indication my cat had attempted to enter the Litter Robot. Determined not to give up I reluctantly decided to make her go cold turkey and removed her old box completely, leaving only the fresh litter in the new Litter Robot. I felt certain I would find a few " protest" deposits lying around the next morning but to my amazement she had used the Litter Robot, more than once!

I scooped out the mess and left it unplugged another 2 days, giving her time to adjust to using the new box. I would then plug the unit in once or twice a day to allow it to do a manual cycle, mostly for my benefit just to make sure everything was working properly. I began to really appreciate the design of the Litter Robot and took pleasure in watching it run through its cycle, knowing I didn’t have to touch anything to get it clean. I adjusted the weight sensor and tested it as directed, crossed my fingers and plugged it in for good waiting for the worst. The worst never came!

Well, over a month later I’m still impressed! I have to replace the storage bag about twice per week and top off the litter about half as often. I tried going a week between bag changes but my cat goes so often it would start to fill up and result in litter streaks on the side of the globe as the unit would rotate over the top of the waste tray. Other than that I have literally done nothing else, yet end up with a clean, fresh litter box every time my cat decides to go. It is just at the point where I should probably clean out the inside of the globe but since it’s still relatively clean, I may let it go another few weeks and see if I can’t put that task on a 2 month cleaning cycle.

It has freed me from the daily, dreaded task of maintaining my cat’s toilet. The piece of mind alone was well worth the cost and the Litter Robot has performed flawlessly, just as advertised. It is so rare to find a product that lives up to the hype but I can truly say the Litter Robot is one of those rare finds that actually makes me feel like it was money well spent!

Sincerely,

James Heller

I received the Litter-Robot to day and had it set up in no time. This is a GEM. My 14 year old cat went in after she investigated it for a few minutes. I had the Litter Maid, and your unit is far superior. What a wonderful product for me and for my Pumpkin. Thanks again for this Wonderful Machine.

We have four felines and had four stinky litter boxes. No matter how much we scooped and cleaned, they just were awful! Not to mention we had our Sunday night ritual of "catbox cleaning" (EWWW!) I was seriously considering trying to find some neighborhood kid who would be willing to do it for a few bucks!

We began to seriously look at the automated options, but I kept finding bad reviews – that is until I saw my first review on the Litter Robot. I couldn’t find anything really negative posted, all the kitties all seemed okay with it (in posts), and it didn’t require expensive premimum litter. So after convincing my husband that it would be worth it to "just try one" (they have a super return policy) I did it.

We followed the steps about letting the cats look at it before using it. When I was putting it together(very simple!!), Snoopy was watching intently. He also watched the initialization carefully. Within ONE day our kitties started using it, and it was plugged in and running. After two days I checked the drawer – and oh joy!! It had cat stuff in it! You have never seen anyone so happy to see that — I dragged my husband in to look : ) Anyhow, after 4 days of "Catbox Bliss" I am ready to order another and get rid of the old boxes! WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE LITTER ROBOT!! Where have you been all my life???!! Sincerely, Terry & Leilani & Snoopy, Midnite, Dingo, & Hazel

Of all the companies that I have worked with on-line, you are absolutely the most user-friendly customer-service oriented. And on top of that, your product is wonderful. It is everything that it is advertised to be. I don’t understand why every person who has a house cat does not have a litter-robot. It is worth every penny. Thank you for making my cats so happy and my life with them so easy.

The Liter robot is everything it is cracked up to be. It was a cinch to set up – even for directionally disabled people! My cat took to it first time out. I just put him in it to show him what it was like once it was set up. When it came time for him to go….it went purr-fectly! He came back to watch it self-clean when he heard it. The sound is equivalent to a microwave. The cleaning is a breeze. I sprinkled a generous amount of carpet odor eater powder in the drawer (receptacle) and completely eliminated even the slightest odor. I just throw away the replaceable bag of my choice once a week! All cat lovers will love this device! I love it!

When I ordered the first Litter-Robot before Christmas, I was hopeful that it would work as well as the testimonials indicated, but afraid the oldest of my four cats would shun the new box. She didn’t, and I’ll throw out the last of my old covered litter boxes when I get the second one here. We have a big old house, and this will give our 4 kitties upstairs and downstairs facilities. What an improvement to the quality of our lives. (I did have four conventional covered boxes to scoop.) Finally, a litter box that can be placed in a living area with no tell-tale odors! Thank you for a wonderful product. Debbie Burchard

I have now had my "space-ship" for about a year and a half. I can not express how much I love this piece of machinery. People know that I have two cats by seeing them, not from smelling the litter box! It is a wonderful comfort to know that the chore of scooping each day is a thing of the past. This has been the best investment, other than the kitties, that I have made. There is no need for premium litter, special receptacles, or charcoal filters. I simply change the kitchen trash bag every 5-7 days, and top off the litter as needed. No finicky kitties due to smell, they anticipate the topping off of the litter.
Thank you so much!!! J

Thanks, :)

The Litter-Robot is the ultimate "Cats pajamas"; the Mercedes of litter boxes! It is very well built and has operated flawlessly from day one. The old cliché "You get what you pay for" is so true when it relates to automated litter boxes. The Litter-Robot has no match in the automated litter box industry. I placed an order today for a second Litter Robot to place in our lower level.

I received my first Litter Robot in November ’05 for our newly adopted 7 month old feral cat. Sammy was our first feline pet, and after a couple weeks of scooping litter, I was searching for a better way and, thanks to searching on the Internet, found countless Litter-Robot owner testimonials, which convinced me to order it immediately. I am so thankful that I discovered this wonderful product. Kudos to the developers for such a dependable and quality product; no odors, effortless litter bag changing and easy to clean.

Being a feral kitty, Sammy was still adjusting to the newness of living inside and was very fearful of unexpected noises and activity.

I was very concerned that he would be afraid of the LR and not use it.
The 30 day return policy was a great incentive to make the purchase, in case he rejected the LR. As suggested by the manufacturer, I placed the LR next to his generic litter box for three days (inactivated, but filled with Cat Attract litter), rubbing catnip on the inside and outside of the opening. Curiosity got the better of him and he investigated it thoroughly and decided there was nothing to fear. After the 3rd day, I activated the LR, added a cup of used litter from his generic litter box and, /*lo and behold*/, I heard the LR cycling in the middle of the night. I had to get up to see if he had actually used it. It was the same elation of having your child successfully use the potty chair the first time. I removed the generic litter box the following morning and Sammy accepted the change without hesitation. A 3 month old Ragdoll baby girl (3.5 lbs) joined our family the end of November and used the Litter-Robot from the very first day. She had to make a running jump to get inside, but stepped on the shelf as she exited the Litter-Robot and successfully activated the sensors to start the cleaning cycle.

I highly recommend this wonderful product to anyone who has any reservations about making a substantial investment in a litter box.

You and your kitties will never regret it.

I recently got the Litter-Robot about 3-4 days ago, after researching automated litter boxes endlessly on the web. None came with higher marks–and I see that they are TOTALLY DESERVED in the case of the Litter-Robot. I have one wonderful cat, but living in a small NYC apartment meant that a regular litter box generated a bit of a stink, despite my using litter deodorizers. The litter robot has ELIMINATED all the smells–I can’t believe it! It was incredibly easy to assemble and my cat took to it right away thanks to your instruction manual. I can’t say enough good things, and I will certainly recommend this product highly to all my friends.

Thanks,

I know that I am not the typical consumer, but I wanted to tell you about my experience so far. I have 4 cats in my house, 3 are mine, and
1 is my sisters. Maybe it is because they have all become accustomed to the Litter Maid and Litter Free, but the Litter-Robot is proving to be a huge success so far. It was delivered to my house just before 1:30 pm. It was out of the box, set up, and used once by 2 pm. Within the next 30 minutes my other two cats had also been in it, one of them using it. (Mind you, I am using the Cat Attract brand litter to encourage them.) My sister’s cat was the only one to hold out.

It is now less than 12 hours since its arrival, and since I couldn’t sleep, I got up to check on it. As I walked in the room, my sister’s cat was exiting the Litter-Robot. I went to manually run it, and also found that it had been used once or twice when I went to bed at 10:30 and its latest use. So, in less than 12 hours, I’ve got all four cats in it, and most likely using it, at least once.

I didn’t really use any of the suggestions listed to get them in the device, not because they weren’t good suggestions, just because I’ve learned over the years how to entice my kitties to trust something new. I just put it in the middle of my living room so they could smell all around it, and talked to them as I ran it. I know I’m lucky by not having to try all the suggestions, but even I am impressed after using my own techniques against their curiosity.

What I am MOST pleased with, however, is my revelation of how this is going to help me with my sister’s cat. She likes to walk into the litter box, to the back left corner and pee on the back of the box. I’ve always had a hood on "her" box, to keep the urine off the wall, but it always seeped through the two pieces and dripped all over the floor, crystallizing on its way down. Now, I know that the back wall of the globe is always going to be dirty, but until I looked a few minutes ago, it had not occurred to me that this product should solve my problem by keeping it all inside. I know if she tries to go to the other side, it will possibly leak out the hole that allows the waste door to open, but lucky for me, she’s consistent.

I am disabled and very easily fatigued, so cleaning a litter box is not just a disgusting job for me, it’s also exhausting. While I do feel that the two products I had previously were better than a regular box, they needed frequent and extensive cleaning to keep the smell down and the cats using them. I do believe that the Litter-Robot will give me more time to focus on other areas of my house that don’t get attention when I’m too tired from cleaning litter boxes. This should be a tremendous help for me.

Anyway, so far so good!

Thanks for such a great product!

Dear Litter-Robot,

A few weeks ago our litter robot ceased to rotate fully. It would go so far and then the gears would keep grinding but the ball would not turn. I removed the ball and discovered that the track for the plastic teeth of the drive wheel had been broken out in one spot.

Horrors! We definitely didn’t want to go back to that horrible Litter Maid unit! We called the Litter-Robot toll free line to see how much a new ball would cost. Meanwhile, I had made plans to try to make a patch from sheet metal, but the Litter-Robot representative said they would ship us a new ball immediately, at no cost! The ball arrived two days later and I was totally blown away. If Sears had this kind of customer support, they wouldn’t be owned by K-Mart these days.

What customer service!

I purchased the Liter-Robot for a Christmas present for myself. I was very skeptical at first, reason being of the good sum of money that it cost.

As I looked over your website I became more intrigued of the way it operated. I thought, what the hey, I’ll give it a try because of the 30 day guarantee. I ordered it and faster than I could believe, it was delivered to my door. I unboxed it and left it sitting unplugged in my living room (along with the box it came in). Bella, my beautiful kitty was very curious, yet very cautious. It sat there for 3 days and I never saw her even think about going in. I even put her favorite treat inside to draw her in. Still only a sideways glance and a nose stuck up in the air as she strolled by. After a couple of days of this I finally decided the day had come. I followed your directions and put the same clumping litter I had been using along with a little of the litter out of the old litter pan into the Liter-Robot. I didn’t plug it in. I waited and would stroll by about every 30 minutes. Bella would give me this look as if to say "Bet you are wondering if I’m going to use this contraption, aren’t you?” After finally just kind of forgetting about it and going about my everyday activities, I just happened to pass by it and "Oh my gosh" there’s a few sprinkles of cat litter on the step. I dared to look inside. "Yes, yes, yes, there’s poop inside. I can’t wait to plug it in and see this marvelous machine do its thing and it does. "I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT" and Bella does too. No more having to come in from work and dealing with the cat box. The Liter-Robot is well worth the money and I just have one cat. I’m glad I did my research and invested in the Liter-Robot instead of the other self cleaning types. It’s one of the best Christmas presents I’ve ever bought myself.
