How to Protect Cats from the Outdoors this Spring & Summer

Est. read time: 1 min.

Whether your cat is an outdoor cat or just likes to roll around in the backyard from time to time, there are some things to be mindful of this warm weather season.

The first is heat! Make sure there is a shady area for your cat to rest in while outside. Cats are even more sensitive to heat exhaustion and sunburn than we are, check out the symptoms of heat exhaustion in your cat here.

Next, as any cat lover/owner knows, cats love to sniff around and get into whatever they can. There are many plants that could be poisonous to him/her, beware of these while your kitty roams outside. The following is a short sampling of potentially dangerous plants:

  • Azalea
  • Baby's breath
  • Buttercup
  • Daffodil
  • Eggplant
  • Ferns
  • Marigold
  • Onion
  • Potato
  • Tulip
