What is included in the box?
The Litter-Robot 3 Connected Home Bundle ships in two boxes. One box includes the fully assembled Litter-Robot 3 Connect, along with one carbon filter, three waste drawer liners, one power supply, and user manuals. The other box includes the fully assembled Feeder-Robot, along with one plastic food bowl, one power supply, and user manuals.
Can I connect the app to Feeder-Robot units and Litter-Robot units?
Yes. You will be able to onboard multiple WiFi-enabled Feeder-Robot units and Litter-Robot units to the same app.
Will my cat actually use the Litter-Robot?
Cats are generally curious and tend to investigate new things. Those already familiar with a covered litter box may be quicker to investigate the Litter-Robot. The trick is to ease your cat into transitioning to the Litter-Robot. You can avoid startling your kitty by leaving the Litter-Robot switched off until you notice your cat has used it. We recommend that you place the Litter-Robot in the same location as the old litter box. You can leave the old litter box near the Litter-Robot for a short time. Take a cup of litter from the old litter box and add it to the clean litter in the Litter-Robot. The scent will be familiar, and your cat should be inclined to check it out. Can kittens use the Litter-Robot 3?
The Litter-Robot senses when your cat enters and exits the globe, which triggers the countdown timer and cleaning cycle. Kittens and small cats that weigh less than 5 pounds may not be heavy enough to trigger the cat sensor. Therefore, kittens and small cats that weigh less than 5 pounds can use the Litter-Robot, but not in automatic mode. Until they weigh enough, we recommend using your Litter-Robot in "semi-automatic" mode to keep your cat safe and relieve you from litter box scooping. For "semi-automatic" mode, leave the Litter-Robot switched off or unplugged. When you see your cat has used it, wait about 7 minutes for the waste to clump, then turn it on/plug it in. The Litter-Robot will automatically perform a clean cycle (which takes about 2 ½ minutes). Afterward, turn it off/unplug it again. Continue this supervised, semi-automatic mode until your kittens have gained sufficient weight to activate the cat sensor.Does the Litter-Robot have a weight limit?
No, the Litter-Robot does not have a weight limit. With entryway dimensions of 16"H x 10.25"W and interior globe dimensions of 15"-17"H (depending on litter level) x 20"W x 20"D, almost any domestic cat can fit comfortably inside the globe. However, your cat must weigh at least 5 pounds to trigger the cat sensor.Does the Litter-Robot require special litter?
The Litter-Robot does not require special litter or proprietary consumables like several other self-cleaning litter boxes on the market. In fact, the Litter-Robot works well with almost any clumping or scoopable litter. Litter beads and crystals that are small enough to pass through the screen will also work in the Litter-Robot. Alternative, plant-based litters may also work, but these tend to form looser clumps that can cause condensation in the waste drawer. The Litter-Robot is not compatible with litters that are strictly absorbent, non-clumping, loose-clumping, newspaper-based, or wood-based pellets. We suggest all-natural premium cat litter for Litter-Robot.
Will the Litter-Robot eliminate all litter box odors?
No, the Litter-Robot will not eliminate all litter box odors. However, because waste is promptly removed and contained in the base, typical litter box odors will be reduced significantly. Additionally, a large carbon filter located in the front of the waste drawer absorbs odors and moisture to discourage mold growth (a major culprit of that telltale litter box smell). This is why the Litter-Robot is a great choice for multiple-cat households. We also recommend OdorTrap™, which works with Litter-Robot to eliminate litter box odors.
Can I use the app with both iOS and Android?
The Whisker app is compatible with Apple mobile devices with iOS 13.0 or greater and Android devices 8.0 or greater. Both the iOS app and the Android app are available to download.
Will the robot connect to my WiFi network?
Our robots require a 2.4 GHz WiFi signal and IPv4 addressing (5 GHz band and IPv6 are not supported). Our robots are unable to connect to shared networks (apartment complexes, college dorms, etc.).
How much food does the Feeder-Robot hold and dispense?
Without the hopper insert, Feeder-Robot holds up to 32 cups of dry kibble. With the hopper insert, it holds up to 25 cups of dry kibble. With the pre-installed dispenser, Feeder-Robot dispenses up to 1/2 cup of pet food in 1/8-cup increments, 1 to 8 times per day.What type of food can the Feeder-Robot dispense?
You can use any dry or semi-moist cat or dog kibble.
What if the Feeder-Robot goes offline? Will it still feed my pet?
Yes. If you use the Whisker app to set your pet's feeding schedule, you can rest assured that your pet will still be fed should the unit go offline. The Feeder-Robot saves the feeding schedule locally on the unit. Whether the unit is connected to the network or offline, once it has a schedule programmed to it via the control panel keypad or downloaded to it from the app, the Feeder-Robot will continue to feed on that specific schedule until it is updated. If the Status Indicator Tower light is blue, then the unit is running a programmed schedule.
Is a backup battery included?
The Feeder-Robot 12V Backup Battery is not included, but sold separately. If you purchase the Feeder-Robot Backup Battery, you will need to install the battery using the guide provided on our website.
Should I schedule my pet's meals or use gravity mode?
Deciding how to use the Feeder-Robot depends on your pet’s eating habits. If your pet has a habit of overeating or eating very quickly, you may wish to schedule their meals. By scheduling the feeding time, your pet will be eating a measured meal portion, 1 to 8 times a day. If your pet has no issue with overeating and tends to “graze” throughout the day, you may wish to use gravity mode. In gravity mode, the Feeder-Robot bowl remains full based on a check every 6 hours.
