What are the full dimensions with the litter hopper installed?

Hello, LB! The LitterHopper itself is 11.1"W x 12.7"H. When attached to the Litter-Robot, it's 28.8"D x 29.5"H.

Hello! Loving the LR! Have 2 questions. 1. Is it ok to keep in the bathroom? Hoping regular shower steam won’t harm the electronics. 2. My female kitty urinates by standing with front paws on the fence & the urine tends to wet just above the litter level, making the litter stck to the rubber instead of clumping into a clump. This area is just outside of where the rubber inflates so it doesn’t come off when it cycles, unfortunately. Usually have to knock it off. She did this with the reg litter box, too-stood on the edge with her head out. Is there anything different I can do to help it come off during cycle? It is currently set for 7 mins and I use arm & hammer slide litter. Thanks so much! Also, the LR changed everything for the better!! Cleaner, easier and can’t believe how much litter we have saved, it’s so efficient. Most importantly, kitty is happy & healthy with it :)

Hi there! While you CAN keep your Litter-Robot in a bathroom, we wouldn't necessarily suggest it. The added heat and humidity could eventually affect the electronical components. It can also cause excess moisture in the waste drawer, which can lead to mold growth, or odor issues. You can adjust the cycle wait time on the unit, to give the litter more time to clump. You can set that up to 30-minutes on the LR4, which may be useful if you are experiencing sticky clumps. Fee free to reach out to us at support@whisker.com if you have more questions!

Our previous older cat, Chaplin died and we just got a 3 month kitten. WHEN and how should we introduce our litter-robot?

We're so sorry to hear about Chaplin! Please accept our condolences. Kittens should weigh at least 3 pounds before using Litter-Robot 4 in automatic mode. We recommend leaving Litter-Robot 4 off and only turning it on to run a clean cycle as needed until they weigh enough to reliably activate the SmartScale™. That will also get them used to seeing the Robot, and being around it, before they see or hear it cycle.

Can it run solely on battery without using the power cord? And about how long would the battery last? We’d like to put ours in a closet without a power source and avoid running a cord out of the closet.

Hi Allie! The Litter-Robot 4 does need to be plugged in to operate. The cord length is 70". There is a backup battery available for purchase, however that will only kick-in and operate in the instance of a power outage, and it'll provide 24-48 hours of power-free operation, depending on usage.

What is the size of the box this will ship in? Does the handle/step come off to fit the box through a smaller doorway?

Hi Mel! The box for LR4 is 24"x24"x32". The handle/step is an interchangeable piece so yes, it can be removed if needed.

Do I need to regularly change the filter in my LR4?

Hi Lurpie! For the best odor control, we do suggest changing the filter in the LR4 monthly. However, it's not necessary for the unit to function. We carry replacement filters right on the website, too.

Any idea of when the stairs for the LR4 will come out? I know you all have said “later this year” but do you have an estimate of what month? Also, is there a day yet for when the first LR4 orders will start shipping? I know July. But is there a DATE yet?

As of now, we do not have an exact date for the stairs but we are anxious to have more information for you! The best way to get the latest news is to sign up for our emails! We will start shipping LR4 as soon as they are ready.

I just ordered one. Now I am trying to figure out how much initial supply comes with it. Do I need to order some now?

Hello Pat! Your Litter-Robot 4 will include the fence, step, and carbon filter. The only thing you will need to get started is a standard-weight, high-quality clumping litter. We suggest an unscented clay for the best results.
