1. Does the LR4 still have the “nightlight” sensor?
    Yes, it does! It is a soft white color rather than a blue like in the Litter-Robot 3.

  2. Does the new version have the same problem with litter clumps sticking to the globe? Or has something been done to solve this issue?
    Clumps sticking is highly dependent on what type of litter is being used and the wait time setting vs the globe itself. Clumps stick when they are too wet. That said, the globe is the same design (rounded) and uses the same globe liner.

  3. My cat is very messy with his liter boxes. We typically use traditional litter boxes that include a flap for entry. Is there a higher fence available than the fence pictured? I don't think that short fence will get the job done with the level of messy my cat deals out.

  4. I've read the Q&As that mention a waste port and potential urine leakage. How high up can this withstand being peed on without it leaking? My male cat only pees standing straight up (and then does absolutely nothing to cover the ever growing pile of urine soaked litter against the box wall).
    Hi Madison! From the top of the litter bed to the waste port hole is about 16 inches so if kitty sprays any higher, it could potentially go out of the waste port hole.

  5. According to the FAQs, there is a "cat recognition disclaimer" that says "Some features not available until late 2022. Additional hardware required to distinguish cats of similar size." I definitely have cats that are similar in size/weight. Will the extra hardware be installed on future robots? Trying to figure out if it's better to wait as that is the main reason for me upgrading.

  6. What about excessively large clumps? My cat pees like a human — there’s SO much of it and it’s always a giant brick of litter. How will it get though down to the tray?
    The waste port hole is fairly large - 6" x 6". If the clumps are larger than that, it won't be able to cycle them out properly.

  7. My cats are super curious. They’re four months, 5 pounds so they can use the litter box. But it looks like they can manage to slip through into the lower compartment. Should I worry about this? Are the sensors good to stop this?

Laser and weight sensor technology detects cats weighing 3+ lbs. The unit will stop once a cat has entered the globe and triggered the motion sensor and/or the weight sensors located on the bottom of the unit. There's also an anti-pinch safety feature mechanism to help prevent paws/tails from being pinched between the waste port hole while the globe is cycling.

    In addition, there's also an alert for motion detected in the waste drawer.

  8. Just saw the litter robot 4 on the website today. My 3 is showing up today. Am I gonna regret keeping this one or should I send it back and upgrade. Never had a litter robot but for the money I'm spending wanna make sure I'm getting the best bang for my buck
