Can kittens use Litter-Robot 4?
Yes. Litter-Robot 4 uses laser and weight sensor technology to detect when your cat enters and exits the globe, which triggers the countdown timer and cleaning cycle. The SmartScale™will not recognize kittens that weigh less than 1.36 kg. Therefore, kittens that weigh less than 1.36 kg can use Litter-Robot 4, but not in automatic mode. Until they weigh enough, we recommend using your Litter-Robot in "semi-automatic" mode to keep your kitten safe and relieve you from litter tray scooping. For "semi-automatic" mode, leave Litter-Robot powered off or unplugged. When you see your kitten has used it, wait about 7 minutes for the waste to clump, then power it on. Litter-Robot will automatically perform a clean cycle. Afterward, power it off again. Continue this supervised, semi-automatic mode until your kittens have gained sufficient weight to activate the SmartScale™.
Can large cats use Litter-Robot 4?
Litter-Robot 4 does not have a weight limit and is suitable for most cats, including large breeds like Maine Coons or Norwegian Forest cats, making it one of the best litter box for large cats. With entryway dimensions of 40cm Height x 40 cm Width and interior globe dimensions of 38-43 cm Height (depending on litter level) x 48.2 cm Width x 45.7 cm Depth, almost any domestic cat can fit comfortably inside the globe.
Does Litter-Robot 4 require special litter?
No, Litter-Robot 4 does not require special litter. Litter-Robot works well with almost any clumping or scoopable litter. However, translucent or white-coloured litter (most often seen in crystal litter) may impact the litter level and Drawer Full Indicator (DFI) accuracy in Litter-Robot 4. Litter-Robot is not compatible with litters that are strictly absorbent, non-clumping, loose-clumping, newspaper-based, or wood-based pellets.Can I use any type of bag in the waste drawer?
Yes, you can use any bag that fits in the waste drawer. However, please note that waste level readings may be inaccurate when using a dark bag, especially when the drawer is empty. As clumps start to collect in the drawer, the readings will become more accurate.
