With the Cats musical movie dropping this week, we started thinking about how our real-life cats compare to the Cats musical characters. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the musical (who doesn’t love “Memory”?) or will be seeing it for the first time on the silver screen, you should take our quiz to find out which of the Cats musical characters is your cat!

Cheerful, Bright, Protective: Skimbleshanks is an energetic ginger tabby known as “the Railway Cat.” He is the protector of the younger cats on the tribe, but is generally jolly and cheerful. He takes great pride in his work keeping the watch, mousing, and helping out aboard the train.

Clever, Competitive, Mischievous: Mistoffelees is a black and white tuxedo cat who is a bit of a rascal. No longer a kitten but not yet an adult, his moods fluctuate between mysterious, clever, cunning, and mischievous. He’s often found performing amusing antics.

Cocky, Demanding, Indecisive: Rum Tum Tugger is, plainly put, a showoff. He is a leopard-spotted gold and black cat, the rock star of the tribe. His rebellious, chaotic energy is adored by the younger characters, and tolerated by those older. He may be demanding, but he’s got charisma. Rum Tum Tugger is played by Jason Derulo in the Cats musical movie.

Friendly, Energetic, Courageous: Munkustrap is a silvery grey tabby who is the leader and protector of his tribe. He is also the narrator of the show, reveling in his storytelling to his tribe and audience alike. He is a large, physically imposing cat.

Glamorous, Loving, Confident: Bombalurina is an attractive red tabby who likes to flirt (particularly with Rum Tum Tugger) and be the center of attention. Although she has a bit of a protective side, she primarily exudes confidence and glamor. Bombalurina is played by Taylor Swift in the Cats musical movie.

Hypnotic, Jealous, (at times) Menacing: Macavity is a ginger tabby with striking shades of black, white, and red. He is the most mysterious and dangerous cat on the show, at times being described as “malevolent.” He is a well-known escape artist among humans and cats. Macavity is played by Idris Elba in the Cats musical movie.

Motherly, Controlling, Contented: Jennyanydots is a light gingery tabby with white markings. She sits and naps during the day, then runs the household at night. She is a doting, motherly figure interested in the well-being of others. Jennyanydots is played by Rebel Wilson in the Cats musical movie.

Proud, Disheveled, Beautiful: Grizabella is a raggedy cat who was obviously once glamorous. She is portrayed as an older cat filled with regret, loneliness, and rejection. She is wistful over the days where she was young, beautiful, and adored. Grizabella is played by Jennifer Hudson in the Cats musical movie.

Skittish, Cautious, Paranoid: Demeter is a black, orange, and white cat who tends to be very anxious and easily startled. She is often the target of Macavity’s attacks, due to something that happened from their past. She will usually run to Bombalurina as her protector and friend.

Soulful, Wise, Commanding: Old Deuteronomy is a large, grey, and (as the name would imply) old cat. He is the patriarch character of the show, respected as a leader and beloved by his tribe. He usually moves slow, but has moments of liveliness. Old Deuteronomy is played by Judi Dench in the Cats musical movie.

Vain, Gluttonous, Dapper: Bustopher Jones is a remarkably fat black and white tuxedo cat. He an aristocratic cat of leisure, always fastidiously groomed and well-dressed. Although he is genial and lives life to the fullest, he is at times vain. Bustopher Jones is played by James Corden in the Cats musical movie.

Wise, Frail, Historied: Asparagus “Gus” the Theatre Cat is a striped grey-brown tabby. He is also very old and frail, yet full of stories. At times he is a little confused (with all that history, who wouldn’t be), but becomes more confident in his storytelling. Gus is played by Ian McKellen in the Cats musical movie.
