These tried-and-true methods will help your cat use Litter-Robot in no time.
Most cats successfully acclimate to Litter-Robot
Leave it turned off
Leave Litter-Robot turned off to avoid possibly startling your cat while they’re adjusting to it as their new litter box. Once you notice that your cat has used Litter-Robot, turn it on for a clean cycle. Encourage your cats to be present, so they can observe the motion and become familiar with the sound of Litter-Robot while you’re there to reassure them.
Stop scooping the old box
Place Litter-Robot near or next to the old litter box, but don’t throw the old litter box away yet. Add a scoop of the old litter to the new litter in Litter-Robot to provide a familiar scent for your cat. Gradually make the old litter box less desirable by letting waste accumulate. Cats prefer a clean place to go, so this should motivate your cat to try Litter-Robot.
Create positive associations
If your cats show no interest, entice them to approach Litter-Robot by using some catnip or treats. Place treats on the step or around Litter-Robot so your cat associates rewards with the new litter box. Once your cat has used Litter-Robot, be sure to reward them with treats, play sessions, and cuddles.
Make it attractive
Use a “cat attract” product, such as a litter additive designed to entice cats. Ensure Litter-Robot is accessible, not blocked or positioned somewhere your cat might feel cornered. Finally, make the unit itself more appealing: Because cats are curious and love to go into boxes, try putting a box over Litter-Robot with a hole cut out for the entry and the drawer.

Whisker recommends closely monitoring the transition of your cat to their new Litter-Robot. As with any litter box transition, cats can have side effects, such as irregular use, not using the litter box, and more. It is best practice, and our recommendation, to monitor this closely until your cat has smoothly transitioned to their new litter box.
